Supporting Pingry

I recently read a story about Dr. Pingry when he was Headmaster in the late 1800's:  After a lesson was finished, Dr. Pingry asked the class, "Boys, why do you come to school?"  One student replied, "To get an education," and the whole class agreed.

That strong tradition of teaching and learning is still exhibited every day here at Pingry.  And without private donations - just like those that Dr. Pingry gave and received over 150 years ago - we would not be here today, able to provide your children and grandchildren with the best education we know how to provide - an education filled with exploration, wonder, and discovery.  Every building and playing field that Pingry has inhabited - from Elizabeth to Hillside to Martinsville and Short Hills - has been due to the generosity of individuals who valued and supported the mission of Pingry:  to foster in students a lifelong commitment to intellectual exploration, individual growth, and social responsibility by inspiring and supporting them to strive for academic and personal excellence within an ethical framework that places the highest value on honor and respect for others.  Your gifts allow us to continue that mission each and every day, and we are extremely grateful.

The Pingry Fund is the heart of Pingry's fundraising program. Pingry Fund contributions are critical to maintaining and enhancing our programs and ensuring that the faculty and student body have the necessary resources to be successful in and out of the classroom.   Each year, we ask every member of the Pingry Community to support the Fund - parents, alumni, grandparents, parents of alumni, faculty, and staff.  Each person's support - at every level - makes a difference, and allows us to provide our students and faculty with the resources they need to learn and teach our students.

Capital, endowment, and planned gifts are also extremely vital to the long-term survival of Pingry.  Whether you are interested in supporting financial aid, our faculty, a specific building project, or an educational or athletic program, gifts of this nature show a commitment to the tradition of excellence that sustains Pingry's role as a leader in independent day schools.  I urge you to explore this site to learn all the different ways that you can give to Pingry while also enjoying the tax benefits of a charitable donation.

On behalf of Pingry, I thank you for your support. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need assistance in any way—we are here to help.

With Many Thanks,
Melanie P. Hoffmann
