Technology initiative
Technology is a critical part of the educational experience that is offered at The Pingry School. The new Middle School is equipped with SmartBoards and modern technology in every classroom, which is a model that Pingry would like to follow for the entire school. Pingry is now seeking funds to update its equipment and technology in all the classrooms in the Lower and Upper Schools.
Martinsville Campus
Providing Upper School Classrooms with the Latest Technology
The Technology Department in coordination with the Facilities Department have started a project to bring the same technology that currently exists in the Middle School to the rest of the Martinsville campus. The plan is to bring all of the Upper School classrooms to a standard configuration in terms of projectors, DVD/VCR players, and sound systems, one floor or wing at a time. Funding is needed to achieve this goal.
Short Hills Campus
The Purchase and Installation of SMARTBoards for all Classrooms
The Lower School at Short Hills is planning to provide DVD projectors, sound systems and interactive whiteboards (SMARTBoards) for all teachers in every classroom. These interactive SMARTBoards are a tremendous tool for faculty working with younger children, who respond well to visual learning cues and methodologies. The goal is to have an LCD projector and SMARTBoard in every classroom at the Short Hills campus. Funding is needed to achieve this goal.
Pilot iPad Program
Thanks to a generous parent donor, the Kindergarten and 2nd grade classes are the recipients of classroom iPads that will enhance the reading, writing, math, and science curricula in those grades through specific applications and exercises, while increasing our students' proficiency in technology. This is a pilot program this year (2010-2011) with the goal to expand it to the other grades in the Lower School with additional donor support.
