MIKE WEBSTER
HEAD COACH, VARSITY BOYS' LACROSSE TEAM
Mike joined the faculty in 1987 and became Head Coach of the Varsity Boys' Lacrosse Team in 1989. He also teaches history and is Assistant Coach of the Middle School Football Team. Mike was also Director of Athletics, Head Coach of the Varsity Football Team, and coach of wrestling and ice hockey at Pingry. He is Director of First Class Lacrosse Plus, an organization that operates lacrosse clinics, camps, and tournaments.
Throughout his coaching career, Mike has been named "Coach of the Year" by the New Jersey Interscholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association, the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association, the National Federation, The Star-Ledger, the Courier News, and the Daily Record. The New Jersey Interscholastic Lacrosse Officials Association has honored him with both the State Sportsmanship Award and their special service award. He was named the 2006 Star-Ledger State "Coach of the Year" and the NJILCA State "Coach of the Year" after leading Pingry to a 17-3 record and winning the Waterman Conference, Somerset County title, and State Non-Public B championship. He has over 200 career victories.
As a player, Mike won two Division I National Championships as a member of The Johns Hopkins University team. He received his Master's Degree from Drew University.
Mike seeks to develop student-athletes who understand the importance of teamwork. His captains become true leaders of their teams, and each player contributes to creating a positive experience for the entire team. Mike has coached All-Conference, All-State, and All-American players. Many of his players have continued to compete at the Division I and Division III college levels.

Upon graduating from The Johns Hopkins University in May of 1987, I began my professional career at Pingry a few months later in September. I expected to be at Pingry for a few years but after 22 years, I am still here. I am happy every day as I walk into my classroom in the middle school as I am associated with wonderful people everywhere I turn including the faculty, staff, and students. I have held a variety of positions over the years including upper school teacher, Athletic Director, and have coached several different sports. For the last few years, I have been happy to be a Form II history teacher, middle school football coach, and head varsity boys lacrosse coach.
